Sports Psychology in the Olympics

Olympic athletes can be seen doing pre-game rituals. Usain Bolt poses for the crowd before he races.  Michal  Phelps listens to music and put his game face on before every swim. Their rituals are different but both very effective. Sports Psychology explains why these rituals make them more successful.

"It's about having the correct mindset that allows you to do your best" (Erica Force). A sports psychologist can help athletes with performances, stress management, and injury recovery by figuring out what each individual athlete responds to best.  Each person is different, Bolt responds to positive affirmations, while Phelps responds to a more cerebral approach. (source 1)
